We’ve made it halfway into 2022 and there’s still many good, anticipated games coming out before this year ends. But 2023 will be here sooner than you’ll realize. And 2023 is already looking like a great year for games as there are many big games that have been scheduled for release. Here are a few of the most anticipated titles that gamers simply cannot wait to play.
But don’t forget these epic games coming out soon for the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X!
1. Forspoken
Platforms: Playstation 5, PC
Release date: January 24, 2023
Already trapped in hard times, Frey is struggling everyday to get through life in her home of New York City. These hard times become harder than she could imagine as Frey is suddenly transported to the magical lands of Athia. This world is vast and beautiful but very dangerous as it is ruled by powerful tyrants who calls themselves the Tantas.
Now blessed with new magical powers, Frey must persevere against all enemies as she journeys through the world of Athia to find the way back home. The gameplay of Forspoken, formerly called Project Athia, focuses heavily on battling enemies with a variety of magical spells while traversing the terrain with swift speed and fluidity. Originally scheduled to release in May 2022, it was delayed to October 2022 then delayed again to January 24, 2023.
2. Dead Space Remake
Platforms: Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release date: January 27, 2023
The gruesome Dead Space series returns with this stellar remake of the original game released in 2008. Aiming to fully utilize the power of next-generation consoles, the developers intend to get rid of loading screens to present the game as one uninterrupted camera shot. And good news to those who hate microtransactions because unlike Dead Space 3, there will not be any microtransactions in Dead Space Remake.
Retaining the same story of the original, you’ll experience the terrifying horrors plaguing the USG Ishimura as Isaac Clarke once again. The giant planetary mining ship has been infested with mutated corpses and Isaac must save the remaining crew and escape before it’s too late.
3. Resident Evil 4 Remake
Platforms: Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release date: March 24, 2023
The remakes of Resident Evil 2 & 3 have both received critical acclaim from lifetime fans and newcomers to the series. So, it wasn’t much of a surprise when the anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake was finally announced this summer. Consequently, fans are greatly thrilled for the return of one of the best survival horror games of all time.
The graphics and controls are being updated to match modern standards, as well as, presenting an atmosphere that is much more tense and scarier than the original game. The story will be reimagined but its essence will stay true to Leon Kennedy’s mission to rescue the president’s daughter from a wicked cult of parasite worshippers.
4. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Platforms: Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release date: 2023
Earth is being invaded by an army of aliens so naturally the heroes of the Justice League springs into action. But there’s a huge problem – they’ve been brainwashed by the supervillain Brainiac. Now, the same heroes that were protecting the Earth are now being used to destroy it.
The only hope left for stopping Brainiac and the corrupted Justice League is a team of crazed super-criminals called the Suicide Squad. This squad is comprised of the notorious villains Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. Switch between these characters at anytime when playing solo with AI controlled teammates. Or play as one character in the online co-op as you and your team liberate the city of Metropolis of the alien threats in this fifth main entry of Batman: Arkham series.
5. Final Fantasy XVI
Platforms: Playstation 5
Release date: Summer 2023
The legendary Final Fantasy franchise continues with this latest main entry set in the lands of Valisthea. Six kingdoms control this continent but thanks the Mothercrystals, giant mountains of crystals, peace and prosperity has always blessed the land.
But this peace is being threatened as a deadly plague is spreading rapidly through the land. Tensions are rising higher than ever and an all-out conflict between the kingdoms seems inevitable. Each kingdom will have to rely on the power of their Eikon, a giant monster with powerful abilities. These Eikons will be the biggest factor, no pun intended, of this incoming conflict.
As a side note, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of Final Fantasy VII Remake that came out in 2020, is also anticipated to release in 2023.
6. Diablo IV
Platforms: Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release date: 2023
After the events of the previous Diablo games, the presence of angels and demons have significantly dwindled in the realm of Sanctuary. Lilith, a banished demon, takes the opportunity to escape her imprisonment and establish her power in Sanctuary.
Pick any of the five classes for your Nephalem character, which are – Rogue, Necromancer, Druid, Sorceress, and Barbarian. Diablo IV will feature an open world and new PvP elements. Additionally, the game cannot be played offline and will need an internet connection at all times.
7. Starfield
Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release date: 2023
Being described as an outer-space Skyrim, Bethesda’s Starfield is possibly the most anticipated game for 2023. It is also Bethesda’s first new series in over 20 years. Set around the year 2330 and about 50 light-years away from the Solar System are the The Settled Systems. All of the colonies are partaking in an unsettling peace years after a war between two of the largest factions. Travel through the galaxy and interact with various factions as a member of the space exploration organization called the Constellation.
8. Street Fighter 6
Platforms: Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Release date: 2023
Chun-Li, Ryu and Guile return to the fighting world as masters to the next generation in this anticipated main installment of Street Fighter. The gameplay revolves around the Drive Gauge, a system based on mechanics from previous Street Fighter games. This system will give players the freedom to prioritize various techniques at their disposal.
Another new element are the vivid splash paint animations that are displayed whenever Drive Gauge techniques or super moves are used. Arguably, the most unique feature of Street Fighter 6 that has been revealed so far is the World Tour single-player mode. The player uses a customizable character to explore a 3D city in search for fights and other activities to progress the story.
