Finding new weapons in Elden Ring is a real rush. Each one brings unique stats, and a new way to enjoy the game. Plus, it’s a great comfort to know that with enough effort, any weapon you choose has the potential to slay its way through the game. However, until you find a weapon that perfectly meshes with your playstyle, it’s important to know which ones will help you find your footing.
As you journey through the Lands Between, keep an eye out for these weapons. Each one gives a small taste of what their weapon class has to offer, is easy to find, and will shine well into the midgame, or until you find that weapon of your dreams.

1. Meteorite Staff
Requirement:
- Strength: 6
- Intelligence: 18
Location: From the First Step site of grace, head East to the Dragon-burnt ruins and find a treasure chest that will teleport you to the Sellia Crystal Tunnels. Run to the bottom of that room, get the site of grace, and then head outside to the Street of Sages Ruins. The staff will be on a body in the most south-west building.
The Meteorite Staff is an adventure to find for beginners, but its the best early-game staff.
This staff starts with an S rank in Intelligence scaling and adds 30% more damage to gravity spells. If you take the time to find the Rock Sling spell in the same area, you’ll have enough firepower to demolish anything in the early game with a flick of your wrist.
Be aware that this staff cannot be upgraded. You’ll want to spend your smithing stones on another staff that will scale better in the endgame while using this staff to blast through early ones. Even after it gets replaced as your main weapon, the Meteorite Staff will still be useful since you can equip it to your off-hand to benefit from its buff to gravity spells.
2. Lordsworn’s Greatsword
Requirement:
- Strength: 16
- Dexterity: 10
Location: In a chest inside of a cart near the Gatefront site of grace.
Featuring a chunky 136 physical attack and a crit modifier of 110, the Lordsworn’s Greatsword is perfect if you’re looking for a solid beat stick or a tool for an early critical strike-heavy build.
Its buffed critical modifier means it’ll deal 10% more damage than other weapons whenever you critical strike an enemy through a backstab or stance break (which this weapon will achieve fairly often through its slow but high damage hits). Even if you don’t use critical strikes often, the large base damage will slice off chunks of your opponent’s health.
This sword is also perfect to eventually transition into Bloodhound’s Fang since they both scale with the same stats.

3. Bloodhound’s Fang
Requirement:
- Strength: 18
- Dexterity: 17
Location: Head to the Agheel Lake South site of grace then go to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave.
If you don’t mind swapping out the Lordsworn’s Greatsword, then moving to the Bloodhound’s Fang for your early game isn’t a bad decision.
It features a higher base damage at 141 physical attack, has a unique skill, and innately causes bleed damage. While you won’t be triggering bleed effects too often with the Fang due to its slow swing speed, its high damage makes it a solid weapon to chew through early enemies with. Its long reach is also amazing for mounted combat.
While all these benefits are great, this weapon has a few downsides. A higher requirement to equip means it’ll usually take a few levels before you can equip the Fang. Plus, it’s locked behind a boss that newer players may find challenging. The good news is that Evergaols are a great place to practice because of how close you will respawn if you die.
4. Reduvia
Requirement:
- Strength: 5
- Dexterity: 13
- Arcane: 13
Location: Head to the Agheel Lake North site of grace then head south toward the first marker on the map below. Reduvia is further in the ravine next to the Murkwater Cave at the second marker. It’s dropped from the invader Bloody Finger Nerijus.
Arcane builds looking for an early boost will find it in this knife. Reduvia innately deals bleed damage and can fire a projectile which also causes bleeding. This works extremely well with arcane builds since a higher arcane stat increases how fast bleed builds up with each swing. Since it’s a knife, it has a fast swing speed, and if you dual-wield Reduvias then you’ll get insanely fast bleed triggers (the easiest way is through a friend giving you theirs).
This is one of the easiest weapons to collect since it’s close to The First Step and requires little effort. Once you head far enough into the ravine, you’ll be invaded by Nerijus. Once you slay Nerijus, the Reduvia is yours.
5. Uchigatana
Requirement:
- Strength: 11
- Dexterity: 15
Location: Samurai’s starting equipment. Alternatively, go to the Warmaster’s Shack site of grace, then head to the Deathtouched Catacombs. It’s on a corpse on the top floor.
The Uchigatana is a strong option for early Dex builds and a great option for early bleed builds. Its scaling of C for Dex at level 5 is useful up through the midgame if you choose not to change its affinity. Its base skill, Unsheathe, is a flexible tool for carving through multiple enemies or dealing heavy damage to one boss.
Bleed builds in comparison can be achieved fairly quickly by finding the Ash of War: Bloody Slash, giving you access to two ways to add even more bleed damage – the skill Bloody Slash and the ability to add the the passive ability? “Blood” upgrade affinity. Bloody Slash deals a solid chunk of damage to enemies even after its recent nerf. The Blood affinity adds more bleed damage per strike and damage scaling with Arcane.
If you started as the Samurai class, finding the second Uchigatana will allow you to dual wield for faster attacks and more bleed triggers.
6. Great Epee
Requirements:
- Dexterity: 16
- Strength: 15
Location: Near the Agheel Lake South site of grace. Take the air vent nearby and it will be underneath a canopy in a chest.
The Great Epee is a flexible weapon that does a little bit of everything. Its long reach makes it useful for mounted combat, its heavy attack is a wide sweep for multiple opponents, and, if you use a shield, you have the option to block and attack at the same time.
The Great Epee is found near the Agheel Lake South site of grace. Head up the vent and you’ll see two massive ruins with mages on top of them. Dispatch the enemies and underneath a tent should be a chest with the Epee inside.
