Let’s dive and discover the best sci-fi games of 2021.
1. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Available on: PS5
Ratchet & Clank went up in 2002, and since then, the developers have added more features and spin-offs.
The latest one of them is the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The game is exposing its users to new worlds. They will find new characters as they navigate the game to stop Dr. Nefarious from destroying the world.
More cool tools have been added to navigate the new world better. Among them is the Rift Tether, which allows users to teleport to different places on the map. This can be in instances where a path is destroyed, and hence the player can tether over the other side.
2. Halo Infinite
Available on: Xbox
The Halo Infinite game has been highly anticipated over the past years. When Halo 5: Guardians was introduced, there was hope that the next version would bring back the Bungie available with the Halo franchise.
Its enthusiasts hoped the trailer would go live during E3 2020, but the developers canceled the plans. Despite this, over the Xbox Series X July streaming event, they could catch a glimpse of what it would look like in the new game. Still, they could not release it because it needed polishing.
We know that the storyline involves a new Halo ring coupled with a fight against a Covenant force that split off, The Banished. There’s not much information that has been released, but we will update you when more are available.
3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Available on: PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series.
Even though the game has been around for over ten years, Commander Shephard and their crew have remained highly addictive. The new version, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, brings the second entry in the stellar trilogy back with better visuals, new features, and interactive storytelling.
You can create and customize your own character’s appearance and skills then lead your elite squad across the galaxy. Shepard also had improved hair, skin tones, makeup, and eye color. He does as from the previous series, but you can choose another iconic Femshep from Mass Effect 3 available in all titles. However, you can still create your team and lead them across the galaxy.
There is a better aim, better control, cover behavior, and gameplay cameras in the new additions.
4. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Available on: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch
The game is the 6th of the Lego Star War series developed by TT Games.
This new version will bring elements from the nine mainline Star Wars films and contain all the Lego fun found in titles before it. There will also be many extra elements, such as the allowance to play 300 characters, including Babu Frik. That’s not all. Players will also play the games in the order that they wish to. The game is expected to release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
5. Returnal
Available on PS5
Returnal is a challenging game in which you “die” repeatedly. The storyline revolves around an astronaut who experiences a crash landing on an alien planet and soon discovers they are in a loop. Each time that she dies, she goes back to that site and starts all over again. The rules become more apparent as you play, and you gain more understanding of the planet. The more you learn, the more chances are of getting out of the loop.
Know that the game is tough and combines two known, challenging games, roguelikes, and bullet hell shooters. The whole experience gives insights into your mistakes and how to avoid death and the loop over and over. You’ll get to play this on PS5.
6. Biomutant
Available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
The Biomutant game gives players the role of a mutated animal required to fight off a natural disaster.
The game was released this year and is set in a world where poisonous oil destroys The Tree of Life. Players can change their character to become a force to reckon with, from gunplay to mutated powers. It has been talked about for the longest time, and the launch is expected to take place soon. Note that the actions you make over the game will ultimately change the ending. The game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
7. Deathloop
Available on PS5 and PC
Arkane Studios created Deathloop as a next-generation FPS. Two rival assassins get trapped in a time loop on an island, the Blackreef, and repeat the same day.
The company behind Deathloop is also behind Prey and Dishonored, which were set in the 1960s period.
The game is quite similar to Dishonored, with both having time loop playgrounds and sims in general. Note that the game is only available on PS5 and PC.
